Dr. Chelsea Grainger

Dr. Chelsea Grainger joined Skylos Sports Medicine Rehabilitation in the fall of 2023. She has always had a love for animals, and a strong affinity for orthopedics and kinesiology. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Grainger became certified in human personal training, where she developed a passion for health and fitness that she has since redirected toward her four-legged clients.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating internship with a focus on surgery and emergency medicine at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center in Fishers, Indiana.
Dr. Grainger then worked in a mixed ER/General practice before moving back to Maryland where she first joined our evening crew at VetUrgency. She provided Urgent Care and General Practice medicine as she completed her Rehabilitation Certification at the Canine Rehab Institute.
She is excited to now be one of our rehab veterinarians along with our talented team of therapists and is eager to put her training to work helping our wide range of patients. Dr. Grainger has a soft spot for geriatric patients, and having two older large-breed dogs herself, she understands the importance of painting their fitness to promote a good quality of life.
The sentiment “I work hard so that my pets can have a better life” rings very true for Dr. Grainger. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three dogs, two horses, and her mule, which leaves little time for much else. She also loves going to the movies with her husband, hiking, and participating in mud runs
